Hi, I'm Nicola.
YOUR bariatric and metabolic wellness dietitian.

Those early years gave me a strong clinical foundation — but more importantly, they taught me how deeply nutrition impacts overall quality of life.
In 2008, I moved to Marbella, Spain, where I was introduced to the world of bariatric surgery through working alongside a bariatric surgeon. It completely changed the direction of my career, as I saw the incredible impact that metabolic surgery has on a patients life. I went on to further my training in bariatric nutrition in the UK and began specialising in this field.

Alongside bariatric and metabolic nutrition, I also have a strong passion for sports nutrition and endurance sport.
I regularly participate in triathlons, multistage mountain bike races, road cycling, and running events, which gives me a practical understanding of fuelling the body for performance, recovery, and long-term health.
I’ve also had the privilege of helping post-op bariatric patients achieve incredible goals of their own — including competing in events such as the Cape Epic, Ironman, and Comrades Marathon.

I graduated as a dietitian in 2000, and for over two decades I’ve had the privilege of helping people improve their health, confidence, and quality of life through practical, evidence-based nutrition support.
My career began in 2001 within the NHS in the UK, where I worked across both acute and community dietetics. During that time, I gained extensive experience in clinical nutrition, working with patients in:
ICU and general surgery
Gastroenterology
Obesity and weight management
Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
Metabolic diseases of lifestyle
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

Since returning to South Africa in 2010, I've been working in high volume, internationally accredited bariatric centers in Gauteng, as well as consulting patients from other centers and abroad, supporting them undergoing:
Sleeve Gastrectomy
Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass
SADI
BPD procedures
I help patients navigate every stage of the journey — from pre-op preparation to long-term post-op wellness, weight regain prevention, and rebuilding confidence around food and lifestyle habits.

My approach is grounded in science, but always led with compassion.
I believe health should feel sustainable — not restrictive.
And that true wellness comes from understanding your body, building realistic habits, and creating a life that feels good to live.
Outside of work, I’m married to my biggest cheerleader, Jonathan, and I’m a proud mom to Maya, Jordan, and our two fur babies, Nala and Rio.
I love travelling, dancing, endurance sport… and of course, good food.
